Records from the Beach
Every season at Bamboo Cottages we keep a small book at the reception desk. Guests write in it on their last evening, usually with a cup of lemongrass tea still steaming beside them. We call these our records from the beach, and they have become one of the quiet treasures of this place.
Some entries are only a sentence. Others run a full page. A guest from Hamburg wrote about the morning she finally managed to balance in tree pose while the tide pulled at her feet. A young couple from Seoul described falling asleep to the rain on the palm roof and waking to the sound of monks far down the shore. One grandmother from Hanoi simply wrote: I came tired and I leave light.
We keep these records not for marketing but for memory. On difficult days, when the wifi fails or the rain keeps everyone indoors, reading a few of them reminds us why this stretch of sand matters. The sea does not advertise. The sunset does not ask for reviews. But people feel something here, and when they put it into words, those words become part of the cottage.
If you stay with us, we invite you to add your own page before you go. Write as much or as little as you like. The book does not judge handwriting or grammar. It only keeps, patiently, the way the beach keeps footprints until the next tide.
