Lola Joins Bamboo Cottages

We are so lucky to have Lola Sadai offering yoga classes on the beach with us. Lola has been practicing yoga for over a decade. When she was a dancer in San Francisco, she gravitated to the practice as it helped to build endurance, flexibility and, above all, a calm center that performance life rarely allows.

Lola teaches the way the island moves: unhurried, attentive, a little playful. Her morning sessions begin as the sky turns grey-pink and the fishing boats are still coming home. She starts with breath, not postures. By the time you move into sun salutations, the sun itself is rising over the water and nobody minds holding a lunge a few seconds longer.

Her evening classes are quieter, built around long stretches and a long savasana to the sound of the tide. Beginners are welcome in every class. Lola has a gift for giving a newcomer and a ten-year practitioner the same pose with two different instructions, and both leave feeling seen.

Classes are open to all guests of Bamboo Cottages and to neighbors staying nearby. Mats are provided, and the sand takes care of the rest. Come as you are, bring water, and leave your watch in the room. The beach keeps its own time.
